Care & Repair

Care and Repair is an independent home improvement agency.

Our aim is to provide support for older, disabled or vulnerable people to help them maintain their independence and remain in their own homes for as long as they wish. Normally the people we help are living in the private sector, as an owner-occupier or private tenant but we are able to give Housing Association tenants some support aswell.

The help we offer is varied - anything from simply putting you in touch with some of our approved contractors to more extensive help to support you through the whole process of having a piece of building work carried out in your home.

We can organise repairs and improvements like heating, repairing a leaking roof or updating the electrics. We can also assist with adaptations, for example a walk-in shower if you have difficulty getting in the bath, a stairlift, a Careline emergency pendant or something as simple as a door entry system. We draw up specifications and plans as appropriate and arrange quotations from our list of approved contractors. Once the work is underway we deal with any issues as they arise and make sure everything is completed properly before we pay the contractor.

If you just need a minor adaptation like a handrail up the stairs our caseworker is qualified to assess clients needs and order equipment for them without the need to go to Social Services.

Sometimes grants are available to pay for essential repairs or adaptations. We can check to see what help you might be eligible for and help you to apply for a grant if you would like us to.

If you would like to have an informal chat with us about the help we can give you or someone you know please give us a call on 020 7385 2043. Alternatively, you can email us at care&repair@creightonhouse.org.
