Only 17% of people with learning disabilities are in paid employment - through Workwise, we are beginning to change that. We know that it can be difficult for young learning disabled people to get appropriate support when trying to find work, training and education. Which is why we set up Workwise, to help and support people to access these opportunities.
We work closely with each person individually, tackling the issues which may be acting as a barrier to work. We assess your skills and abilities, and help you to decide if you are looking for full or part-time paid employment, volunteering opportunities or if you are looking to gain new qualifications. We complete an employment action plan and support you to complete application forms and attend interviews. We can run practice interviews and can support both you and your employer in your new place of work.
We also run a weekly Literacy Group where a qualified teacher volunteers works one-to-one with several service users. We can also put you in touch with other organisations that may be able to offer you support in other areas of your life.
Workwise is open to any Hammersmith & Fulham resident aged 16 or above who has a learning disability.
"Workwise is good. If it weren't for you guys I wouldn't have the job here. Working here has given me a little bit of a kick, makes me more lively, motivated. Great fun!"
